thefinancialexpress said that The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has amended the definition of CKD motorcycles to ease the import process of hi-tech bikes.
Customs wing of the board has issued an order, dated January 28, 2021, in this regard.
Officials said the order was issued due to difficulties faced by the importers of completely knocked down (CKD) hi- tech motorcycles.
The amendments were made as the previous definition, framed in 1997, did not cover the technological advancement of the CKD motorcycles.
Bangladesh Motorcycle Assemblers and Manufacturers Association (BMAMA) had also demanded the amendments as the customs was not releasing the imported CKD bikes for lack of clear definition about the technologically advanced bikes.
